Head to the park headquarters at Nyakalengija to complete formalities and meet your dedicated team of mountain porters. Hike upward through dense, vibrant montane forest pathways filled with playful black-and-white colobus monkeys, arriving at Nyabitaba Camp for dinner and your first night on the mountain.

Leave Nyabitaba Camp behind and descend down through beautiful forest trails to cross the historic Kurt Shafer Bridge. Navigate the slippery, muddy pathways of the lower Bigo Bog area using newly installed boardwalk structures, reaching John Matte Camp for a warm evening meal.

Navigate across the upper Bigo Bog boardwalks, keeping an eye out for spectacular giant lobelias and groundsels unique to alpine Africa. Hike along the shores of the breathtaking Lake Bujuku, which sits right within the deep valley of the mountains. Settle into Bujuku Camp, which serves as a crucial base camp with spectacular views of Mount Baker and Mount Speke.

Advance out of Bujuku along a steep trail climbing through the beautiful groundsel forest up toward the Scott-Elliot Pass. The trail splits here, leading you up a rugged, exposed rocky ridge directly to Elena Hut. This high-altitude alpine outpost sits directly on the rocky cold slopes of Mount Stanley, serving as your launching pad for the final summit push.

Wake up for an intense midnight start. Strap on your crampons, harness up, and rope up with your technical guide to cross the Elena Glacier.
